About Sanders Data Services

Sanders Data Services, Inc. was founded in 2001 to address a specific, technically demanding challenge: Settlement Quality Meter Data (SQMD) processing for energy suppliers operating in California's newly deregulated electricity market.

SQMD isn't forgiving. The data volumes are massive, the accuracy requirements are absolute, and the deadlines are fixed. For over two decades, we served energy suppliers including Calpine, Inc., building and operating the data infrastructure that kept their settlement processes running smoothly.

The work involved automated collection from multiple sources (utilities, meter data management agents, FTP servers), EDI 867 processing, interval data transformation, load profile application, loss factor calculations, missing data estimation, and deadline-driven regulatory reporting. Every step had to be right, every time.

Sanders Data Services continues to specialize in CAISO settlement data work — now supporting both legacy ESPs and entities entering CAISO through the Extended Day-Ahead Market (EDAM). Twenty-five years of hands-on experience with SQMD plan development, validation, dispute investigation, and audit readiness goes to work for clients who need a specialist without the overhead of building one in-house.
