Sanders Data Services, Inc. was founded in 1999 to address a specific, technically demanding challenge: Settlement Quality Meter Data (SQMD) processing for energy suppliers operating in California's newly deregulated electricity market.
SQMD isn't forgiving. The data volumes are massive, the accuracy requirements are absolute, and the deadlines are fixed. For over two decades, we served energy suppliers including Calpine, Inc., building and operating the data infrastructure that kept their settlement processes running smoothly.
The work involved automated collection from multiple sources (utilities, meter data management agents, FTP servers), EDI 867 processing, interval data transformation, load profile application, loss factor calculations, missing data estimation, and deadline-driven regulatory reporting. Every step had to be right, every time.
With our final SQMD contract completed in 2025, we're now applying that same discipline to a broader range of data challenges. The problems are different, but the approach is the same: understand the data, build a reliable process, and take it off your plate.
